Malerei & Fotografie

"No fish at all" (2020)

"Perfect lightnINg abovE darkeNEd dol guldur and tolkiEns midDLE earth" (2019) Serie: SmAll LAnDscapes

Painting & Photography

Influenced by both the Venice paintings of a William Turner and the action paintings of a Jackson Pollock, Veronika Scherer creates atmospheric and abstract landscapes and dynamic animal portraits. While the landscapes leave the viewer a lot of freedom for the subjective feeling and immersion in a kind of dream world, the animal pictures open up a very own view of the wide range of our fauna. Mostly captured in the movement, every living being presents itself in its individual, special and unfortunately now often endangered way.

"No fish at all" (2020)

The titles of the pictures mostly provide an insight into the thoughts of the artist during the creation process and in some cases, like the landscape “Dragon” (2019), raise questions: Where is the dragon located? At first glance, no one is recognizable. What does the title generally have to do with the picture? This irritation awakens the viewer's curiosity and leads to a more intensive examination of the work - and thus of himself.

"Drache" (2019)

In photography, the artist alienates the mostly floral motifs through her most conscious play with blurring, extreme lighting situations and perspective, analog and digital, in such a way that, like the paintings, they remind of surreal landscapes and thus reveal the big things in small things. In the end, individual leaves or the bark of a tree look like complex landscapes.

"Perfect lightnINg abovE darkeNEd dol guldur and tolkiEns midDLE earth" (2019) series: SmAll LAnDscapes

The naming of the photographed motifs in the respective titles of the "Small Landscapes" series, recognizable by the composition of the capital letters contained, provides the "solution", i.e. an objective recognition, and at the same time leads to renewed and possibly deeper viewing and exploration photography - just looking for the object mentioned. So the title “SmAll LAnDscapes” now reveals the photographed motif: SALAD. Ideally, this immersion in the images and recognition leads to a greater appreciation and awareness in dealing with nature and the discovery of the unique in supposedly everyday details.

The artist lives and works in Neu-Isenburg and donates part of her proceeds to animal welfare.
